You can always expect creativeness from Shake shack. From their Korean-style fried chicken sandwich, Gochujang fries and chicken bites in their South Korea location. To their newly launched black truffle burger in the United States. Honestly, a certain franchise should've taken some notes from Shake Shack when creating the BTS meal.
I honestly, think this is my favorite burger from Shake Shack by fair. It's Smokey, and flavorful. At first, I was afraid that it was going to be extremely heavy. Since, it doesn't have any vegetables on it. The ingredients consist of a beef patty, gruyere cheese, black truffle sauce, crispy fried shallots and toasted potato bun. But, surprisingly it wasn't too heavy. Although, I do think that some ice berg lettuce and fresh tomatoes will elevate it. But, it's still pretty good on it's own. The price though, is a bit sharp on the wallet at $8.99 without tax. Since the burger itself is pretty small, but considering it's $8.99 for a taste of black truffle, I think it balances it out. I would also suggest dipping this into the black truffle sauce that comes with the fries instead of ketchup. It's so good. On the other hand, I was disappointed in the garlic parmesan fries. Shake shacks' crinkle cut fries are always crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. The disappointment comes from the flavoring. Like a saying from the younger me "It smells better than it tastes." The garlic and cheese flavor filled up my car when I first got it, and it made my mouth water from the smell. But, when I took a bite, the excitement faded. The garlic and parmesan cheese flavor, were very faint and it just tasted like regular fries. The fries also didn't fit that well with the black truffle sauce. Since the fries itself was heavy, adding on the butter base sauce, the combination was too oily. It didn't have that extra element, like the smokiness of the burger, to balance it out.
Now, I've also tried other shack burgers like the shake stack as well as the smoke shake. All I can say about those two is that it's so close to perfect. Their patties were Smokey goodness but for the shake stack, the cheese should've been a mix of mozzarella and parmesan for that nice pull and salty flavor. While for the smoke shake, I honestly should've taken out the cherry peppers as it was too sour for me. But the spice was good.
So, now you have all the deets, what are you waiting for? Head to your local shake shake before the promotion ends and you miss this Smokey goodness.
🍔Cheers to the truffle lovers!
